Session Description:
Blockchain technology appears to be one of the most impactful technology advancements since the introduction of the Internet. Most people have little knowledge about it, though it promises to impact every industry, especially nonprofits and governments. It is already in use today. Most know it through the use of cryptocurrencies, though distributed ledger technology is also being used and will be growing exponentially in other financial and nonfinancial applications.

The session will first cover, in nontechnical terms, what blockchain is and how it works. Then, the course will provide real-world illustrations of how it is being used in various industries and focus on how the technology is currently being used and what applications are in process today for nonprofits and governments.
